Marvin Gaye

Marvin Pentz Gay Jr naît le 2 avril 1939 à Washington, DC. Fils de pasteur, il fréquente régulièrement l'église, où il s'exerce à la musique en chantant et en pratiquant le piano et la batterie. Ainsi la musique est devenue une échappatoire à la vie cauchemardesque qui régne alors dans son foyer (son père le battait régulièrement). Au cours de son adolescence, il intègre plusieurs groupes comme The Rainbows, The Moonglows ou The Marquees.
