Thats how Charlotte Buyl looks back at the sunny month of the summer of 2010, as she became the leading lady of dance formation Pearl at the end of last August.Charlotte is 19 years young and lives in quiet Bruges where she spends the weekend with her mom and dad and her little sister. During the week however, you can find Charlotte in Antwerp where shes attending college to become a Bachelor in Communication Management. Her friends and family have nicknamed her Charly. A short name that perfectly defines who she is: a happy girl, with a healthy ambition and full of energy.Charly has always been fascinated by music and by stages. As a child, her only audiences were her parents and the neighbors, as she used to spend her days singing at home. At twelve years of age however, she had the opportunity to discover the amazing thrill of getting on stage and singing for a real audience, as she performed on the stage of the world-famous Stadschouwburg of her hometown Bruges. For the young Charly, this experience was a revelation. From that moment on, she knew exactly what she wanted to do: become a performing artist. To perfect her singing, Charly went to The Art Factory in Roeselare where she attended jazz and pop classes for 3 years. She also took some courses at the Conservatory of Bruges in classic singing and went to the Musicalschool Vlaanderen in Ghent.In 2008, Charly auditioned for the Flemish edition of X Factor with the girlsband Miss Behave. Charly and her friends survived the feared auditions, but had to leave after the second live show. Despite their elimination, Charly pursued her passion. She kept on performing on local stages with Miss Behave and managed to finish high school. But her first steps in showbiz tasted like more, so even after Miss Behave split, she went on searching for other opportunities. She contacted the Flemish performer Brahim with whom she recorded a beautiful ballad.In 2010, her little sister registered Charly for the talent show Looking for Pearl on the local TV station JIM, where producer Peter Luts was looking for a singer for his new project Pearl. Even if she had sworn never to participate to another talent show again, it didnt mean she would not do all it takes to win this one. She charmed the jury with her appearance and talent and won the contest.I still cant believe that I won! This is really a dream come true and I enjoy every minute of it.After a first successful single Speechless, Pearl now works on some new tracks. Her new single Like a Video Game will be released in April 2011.
