Madilyn Bailey
American singer songwriter Madilyn "Maddie" Bailey owes all of her success as a young musician to the YouTube generation.
She has made her mark on the music industry by building a respectable following through her innovative and catchy YouTube videos (she currently has over 750,000 subscribers).
Ms.
Bailey was raised in a small community in Wisconsin.
At the very young age of 7, she was already writing lyrics.
Her biggest obstacle was that she didn't know how to play any instruments.
She quickly eliminated that problem by learning to play the piano, a guitar and the drums, all in succession.
Madilyn began her music career by playing little sessions at local venues.
Being from a small community made her feel she needed to think outside the box to get her music heard.
She turned to putting a series of videos on YouTube.
She adopted a unique process where she would take popular rap songs and put them to pop music.
Her first big hit was a cover of an Eminem song.
As the YouTube process caught on, she began traveling between Wisconsin and Los Angeles to increase her chances for exposure.
She was writing songs in her home town and taking them west to shoot the videos.
As her subscriber base began to grow, she was signed to a record deal with Keep Your Soul Records.
This label was perfect for her because the company's owner, Jake Coco, had a great understanding of the YouTube process.
Under the new label, Ms.
Bailey was given the opportunity to tour with the band Boyce Avenue in late 2013.
Though her biography is short she has made considerable waves and shows the determination to make a name for herself in music.
