Bastille
Bastille is a rock band formed in London, England.
It began as a solo project by singer and songwriter, Dan Smith.
The solo act later transformed into a band when Chris Wood, William Farquarson and Kyle Simmons joined.
Bastille made their debut with a 2-track release featuring songs "Icarus" and "Flaws".
An EP, Laura Palmer, followed in 2011.
Their following increased as they released other songs on Facebook and Youtube.
They then recorded a track for The Sims video game and also were featured on soundtracks for shows like The Vampire Diaries.
"Overjoyed" was their first single from their debut album Bad Blood.
Their second single was the title-track which also became their first entry on the UK charts at #90.
They jumped into the UK Top 40 with their third single, a re-release of "Flaws" and "Pompeii", the fourth single, also charted in the US and UK.
When the album was released, it hit #1 on the UK chart.
A extended version followed in the same year titled All This Bad Blood.
In 2014, Bastille won the BRIT awards for "Best Breakthrough Act".
Along with their original music, they released a mixtape of song covers titled Other People's Heartache.
It included song covers of artists like Fleetwood Mac and TLC.
