Ben Watt

Started out as an experimental solo folk artist on Cherry Red Records 1981-83.
Most well-known for his subsequent nine-album twenty-year career as a best-selling recording artist with Tracey Thorn in Everything But The Girl (1982-2002).
Stepping back from the mainstream, he co-founded the underground London club night, Lazy Dog (1998-2003), and with it his DJ career (including residencies at The End London, Cielo New York and We Love Space Ibiza).
Co-owned and ran music policy at two west London clubs (Cherry Jam, Neighbourhood) for three years before quitting in 2003 to set up his own indie record label Buzzin' Fly specialising in electronic dance music.
Sister alt-indie imprint Strange Feeling launched in 2006.
Became a resident DJ on BBC 6Music's flagship electronic show, the 6Mix in 2010. In 2013 parked Buzzin' Fly to focus on his own work again.
He completed his acclaimed second book, ‘Romany and Tom' about his parents and the post-war years, childhood and old age.
Published by Bloomsbury in early 2014 it followed his 1996 memoir ‘Patient' (an account of surviving a life-threatening illness in the early nineties) which was shortlisted for Esquire Book Of The Year, and voted a Sunday Times Book Of The Year and a New York Times Notable Book of The Year.
He then wrote and recorded, 'Hendra', his first solo album for thirty-one years.
Released in 2014 to wide acclaim - and a return to his guitar-playing and songwriting folk roots - it features contributions from Bernard Butler, Ewan Pearson and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.
He lives in London with wife Tracey Thorn and their three kids.
