The Spanish born pop singer/songwriter Sergio Contreras was born in the city of Huelva, Spain. He took an interest in music as a career at a very young age. As a teenager, he learned to mix and produce some of his own songs, which led him to an early career as a DJ. By the time he graduated from high school, he was already spinning records in local clubs around the region of Andalusia, Spain. While working in one the local clubs, he was noticed by a representative from a local radio station and was offered a job working as a DJ on a couple of different radio stations. For Contreras, his work as a DJ and producer were mere stepping stones to his lifelong dream of becoming a popular solo artist. That opportunity came in 2004 with the release of his independently produced record titled "Racisme (Maqueta Asere)". The record was popular in the region, but hardly scratched the surface of his aspirations to become a national celebrity. He didn't have to wait long for the next big step along his career path. In 2005, he released his debut album titled "De Luz y de Sal". Due in large part to the hit single "Yo No Quise", the album became certified gold with over 50,000 copies sold. Prior to the release of his successful self-titled album, he cemented his importance as an artist with the 2006 release of the album "El Espejo". The album contained several hit singles and eventually earned Contreras the honor of having a place among Billboard's Top European 100 albums in 2006.Over the next seven years, Contreras would continue his momentum with the release of four more commercially successful albums. He also became a very popular live performer on the tour circuit throughout the country and in other parts of Europe.
