Travie McCoy

American rapper/songwriter, Travis Lazarus "Travie" McCoy, hails from Geneva, New York where he was born on August 6, 1981.
McCoy has been very busy since the late 1990s, pursuing a solo career in addition to his position as the lead singer for the punk rock band, Gym Class Heroes.
Most of the 2000s were spent recording and performing with his group, and they have had a fair amount of success over the years.
In 2006, McCoy started a professional and personal relationship with pop superstar Katy Perry, which lasted two years.
In 2010, the band decided to take a three-year hiatus in order to allow McCoy and other members to pursue solo careers and other personal endeavors.
As a solo artist McCoy was signed to a record deal with Nappy Boy Entertainment.
Under his new label, he released his debut album entitled "Lazarus" in June of 2010.
The new album sold approximately 72,000 copies, and that was enough to crack the charts in both the US and the United Kingdom.
The single "Billionaire", featuring pop artist Bruno Mars, was certified 2X platinum and hit the top five on singles charts throughout the world.
In the US, the song peaked at No.
4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.
While he works on his next album, he has kept himself busy touring with the likes of Bruno Mars, Reba McEntire, Rihanna, Flo Rida, Jay Sean and Soulja Boy.
He has also enjoyed collaborating with Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and the English Girl Group Stooshe.
