A shepherd from northwest Pakistan, Zarsanga sees her life transformed at a wedding when her voice fascinates a master who takes her to sing on the Peshawar Radio. She has been honoring her childhood nickname, "golden branch", ever since, and yet remains extremely simple. The pencil thin, wheatish and illiterate Zarsanga is so proud of her euphonic and bewitching voice that even in her mid-fifties she challenges the young vocalists to match her in rhythmic frequency.
