Ohio born Chrissie Hynde moved to London in the 70's and formed the Pretenders with Martin Chambers, James Honeyman Scott, and Pete Farndon. Farndon and Scott did not live long enough to enjoy the fruits of their labor, both succuming to drug overdoses in the early eighties. Hynde carried on, after replacing the 2 rock casualties, and had a string of hits in the 80's and 90's. With their unique sound featuring beautifully rich, chorused guitars and Chamber's unique, edgy style of drumming, the Pretenders are still a strong musical force today.
