Early lifeTrainor was born and raised in Nantucket, Massachusetts, the daughter of Gary and Kelli Trainor.
She grew up with a musical family, and has been writing songs since she was 11 years old.
When she was 13, her parents bought her a computer so that she could produce her own songs.
The family later moved to Hyannis, Massachusetts, so that Trainor and her two brothers, Ryan and Justin, could attend Nauset Regional High School in nearby North Eastham.CareerAt age 17, Trainor attended the Durango Songwriter's Expo and Big Al Anderson of NRBQ introduced her to Carla Wallace of Big Yellow Dog Music.
Trainor signed as a songwriter with Big Yellow Dog shortly after her 18th birthday, while she was still in high school.
In 2011, Trainor wrote and self-released an album entitled I'll Sing With You.
She went on several writing trips to Los Angeles, New York City, and Nashville.
She settled in Nashville full-time when she was 19.
She has had songwriting cuts with Rascal Flatts, Sabrina Carpenter, R5, and many others.On one of Trainor's writing trips, she met and wrote with Grammy-nominated producer Kevin Kadish.
They wrote "All About That Bass" in 2014, and Trainor's publishing company told her that many artists might be interested in recording the song.

Reid heard Trainor's own demo of the song and signed her to Epic Records, where she was able to release the song as a solo artist.
"All About That Bass" has since become her first #1 single on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has topped charts in various other countries including Australia, Canada, Denmark and New Zealand.
Trainor's Debut EP, "Title", was released in September 2014.ArtistryTrainor cites Trinidadian soca music as a major influence.
Other influences include Christina Aguilera, Frank Sinatra, and 1950s music.
Trainor writes pop, reggae, hip hop, country, and soca music for other artists.
