Des guitares citant aussi bien David Grubbs que le Velvet Underground servies sur un patchwork synthétique de claviers vintages et relevées par unebatterie terrienne aux patterns tout droit sortis des seventies : Voilà peut-être la recette de la potion miraculeuse nommée Yeti Lane, mise au point parBen, LoAc et Charlie, tous trois membres du groupe Cyann & Ben.Début 2008, la belle histoire Cyann & Ben est mise en suspens après sept années à parcourir l'Europe et à faire parler d'eux jusque de l'autre coté del'Atlantique grâce à trois albums remarquables et remarqués (sortis sur Gooom, Locust, Ever records/ !K7).C'est une nouvelle aventure qui commence désormais, lorsque les trois musiciens s'éloignent des atmosphères éthérées et des envolées lyriquespropres à Cyann & Ben au profit d'un indie rock plus direct et rythmé.
Une nouvelle aire de jeu s'ouvre à eux, alors que le champ des influences s'élargit en mélant sans complexes mélodies pop et rythmiques tribales, synthés krautrock et guitares hypnotiques.Le trio s'est attelé très vite à la composition et à l'enregistrement de nouveaux titres dans son propre studio créé pour l'occasion afin de capter cette nouvelle énergie créatrice.L'écriture est ciselée, ramassée.
Plutôt que de snober le format pop, Yeti Lane s'amuse ici à l'emmener ailleurs en y insufflant une dose d'épique et desarrangements savants.Le son, ancré dans la tradition rock a su également intégrer la malice du Do It Yourself, entre vintage et modernité.À l'instar d'une certaine scène new-yorkaise, Yeti Lane joue la carte d'un psychédélisme moderne qui sait ce qu'il doit, autant à Syd Barrett qu'à Kraftwerk ou aux Flaming Lips. Guitars that evoke both David Grubbs and Velvet Underground, woven over a synthetic patchwork of vintage keyboards and set off by intense drums with patterns pulled right from the 70s: this might be the recipe of the magical potion called Yeti Lane, concocted by Ben, LoAc and Charlie, all members of the group Cyann & Ben.A new adventure began when the three musicians strayed from the ethereal atmospheres and lyrical flights dear to Cyann & Ben to embrace a more direct and rhythmic indie rock.
They entered a new playing field with a wider range of influences that effortlessly meld pop melodies and tribal beats, krautrock synthesizers and hypnotic guitars.
The trio quickly began composing and recording new tracks in its own studio, created especially for the occasion to capture this new expressive energy.The composition is exquisitely precise.
Instead of snubbing the pop format, Yeti Lane plays with it: taking it to a new space and adding a dose of epic rock and savvy arrangements.
The sound, rooted in the rock tradition, also takes up a clever do-it-yourself approach, hovering between vintage and modernity.
In line with a certain New York scene, Yeti Lane unveils modern psychedelics that voluntarily recall Syd Barrett, Kraftwerk and The Flaming Lips.
