The Norwegian dance/hip hop duo Madcon originated in the city of Oslo, Norway in 1992. The principle artists are Yosef Wolde-Mariam and Tshawe Baqwa. During the early years, the duo worked together to ply their trade in local nightclubs while trying to build up a fan base. In 2004 the duo decided to go into a studio and self-produce their debut album. That album entitled It's All a Madcon was released later that same year. While the album failed to chart, the album's title track peaked at #11 on the Norwegian Singles Chart. It would be more than three years before Madcon would release their next album. In December of 2007, they released their follow-up effort entitled So Dark the Con of Man. The album received attention in countries like Belgium and France and climbed as high as #3 on the Norwegian Chart. The Album's featured single "Beggin" was certified gold and hit the #1 spot on singles charts in Norway, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. After modest success with the release of an inCONvenient truth (2008), Madcon released the highly successful album Contraband, which peaked at #2 on the Norwegian Albums Chart. The album gave rise to two #1 singles ("Glow" and "Freaky Like Me") on the Norwegian Singles Chart. The next two albums would confirm the duo's popularity as Contakt (2012) and Icon (2013) would chart quite well in Norway. In fact, Icon went on to become the duo's first #1 album under the Sony Music record label. Much of the album's success can be attributed to the single "In My Head", which peaked at #2 on the Singles Chart.
