Thomas Bergersen

Thomas Bergersen is one of the more prolific and in-demand artisans of the relatively new musical profession of composing music for film trailers, the short preview snippets that serve to create interest in upcoming film releases.
Born July 4, 1980 in Trondheim, Norway, Bergersen began his professional career in the group, Index, creating audio-visuals (demos) by using computer programs.
The demo "scene" originated and flourishes primarily in Nordic and Western European countries.
Along with being proficient in the computer arts, Thomas Bergersen is also a talented multi-instrumentalist, skilled at keyboards, guitar, trumpet and violin, and his biography includes a Master's degree in Composition and Orchestration.
Bergersen's skills first gained attention from a collaboration with Boom Jinx, an EDM artist, on "Remember September", a trance single released in 2007.
A year earlier, Bergersen, along with business partner Nick Phoenix, had formed Two Steps From Hell, a musical production company that specializes in creating both complete film soundtracks as well as trailers for soon-to-be-released movies.
Their work has been featured in more than a thousand major film releases and/or trailers, including the Harry Potter series, Captain America, The Twilight Saga, the X-Men series and Star Trek Into Darkness.
The company has also produced music for video games ("Mass Effect 2 & 3", Resident Evil 6" and "F1 2013") and television programs ("Breaking Bad", "Game of Thrones", "The Walking Dead", "Homeland" and "Doctor Who").
The duo has also recorded and released a number of albums comprised of original compositions, with "Invincible", "Archangel" and "SkyWorld" enjoying the most commercial success.
In 2011, Bergersen released his first solo album, "Illusions", and released a second solo effort in fall 2014 entitled "Sun".
Bergersen's profile was also substantially raised for his compositional contributions at the opening and closing ceremonies during the 2012 London Olympic Games.
